Branding for one winery, two winemakers, five brands.
The shape of a circle first drove the conceptual motivation behind the logo design. A circle represents unity and feminine energy. The two parts of the circle symbolize collaboration with the “C” and “W” as the connecting elements— wholeness and continuation flowing between them and onward to other women—a passing of the baton. The line was placed specifically at a 45-degree angle to give the feeling of a globe and to reinforce the idea of movement to the circle. Traveling the globe as an explorer, taking risks, and flying are at this concept's heart.
A circle and line from the top right to bottom left represent œ, which is an element of the BOE identity (one of the five brands of Chronicle Wines). It also gives a nod to the past as it is the Latin ligature of “O” and “E,” respectively–cleverness, love of knowledge, and wisdom should be the takeaway. The star represents both the past and present. Stars burn brightly and are used as a navigation tool. You always look up to them. Placed in correlation to the location of the heart on a human body (left of center).
The brand name—Chronicle Wines, set at a 38.5-degree angle, will eventually intersect the 45-degree line. This intersecting point is where every bottle holds a story. Chronicle Wines: stories collected, crafted, and creatively held within each bottle.
